Surveys & plans
A qualified drainage surveyor inspects existing drains and sewers with a camera, codes defects to the WRc Manual of Sewer Condition Classification, and gives you a report with video, stills and a drain layout.
A CCTV survey shows the route and condition of drains before you design an extension, buy a property or build near a sewer. Part H of the Building Regulations requires work over or near mapped sewers to be carried out without harming the building or the continued maintenance of the sewer.
Many water companies ask for a CCTV survey before agreeing to building over or close to a public sewer, and some ask for another on completion to show the sewer was not damaged. Requirements vary between companies, so we check what yours expects, including the format of the report.
Your written quotation confirms the exact scope, what is included and any limits for your building.
A coded survey report with stills, video and a sketch layout of the drains surveyed, in the format your water company or designer needs.
Sent as a PDF. We can send it to your building control body or agent on request.
Our reports and testing support the compliance process. Approval and completion decisions remain with your building control body: the local authority, a registered building control approver, or the Building Safety Regulator for higher-risk buildings.
Send what you have. Missing details will not stop an enquiry; we will tell you anything still needed.
Often. Many water companies ask for one before building over or near a public sewer, and some ask for another on completion. Their requirements take priority, so send them with your enquiry.
The report records where and why the survey stopped. Jetting to clear the line is priced separately.
