Asbestos management survey
Surveys to locate and assess asbestos in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Health & safety surveys
We arrange the fully intrusive survey needed before refurbishment or demolition, locating asbestos hidden in the building fabric of the work area so it can be dealt with before work starts.
HSE’s survey guide, HSG264, says a refurbishment and demolition survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out, and asbestos must be removed, as far as reasonably practicable, before major works. Anyone carrying out work that could expose workers to asbestos must first find out whether it is present, and that applies in homes as well as other buildings.
The survey covers the area of the planned works, or the whole building if it is being demolished. It is fully intrusive and may open up floors, walls and ceilings, so the area must be vacated during the survey and shown to be fit for reoccupation afterwards.
Send us the scope of works early. A survey based on a clear scope avoids gaps, and its findings can affect the programme and the contractor’s plans.
Your written quotation confirms the exact scope, what is included and any limits for your building.

Sent as a PDF for your records. We can send copies to tenants or agents on request.
Our reports support your duties as owner, landlord or responsible person. They do not replace those duties.
Send what you have. Missing details will not stop an enquiry; we will tell you anything still needed.
Not for building work. A management survey covers normal occupation and maintenance; work that disturbs the fabric needs a refurbishment and demolition survey of the area affected.
The area being surveyed must be empty, because the survey is destructive and may disturb asbestos. In a home that can mean keeping out of some rooms until they are confirmed fit for reoccupation.
Often, if the house was built or refurbished before 2000 and the work will disturb the fabric. Your contractor has to know whether asbestos is present before starting.
